Leadership / Director Positions
Diaspora Education Director
1. Oversee production and distribution of the university's Black History Month (BHM) calendar and t-shirt with the Black Student Alliance Council (Department of Multicultural Services); including all BHM public relations projects.
2. Facilitate the following programs: 1) Homeward to My Heritage initiative (Ancestry Project, Trips, GCM Curriculum); 2) Kwanzaa Week education on social media and 3) one BHM event. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for submitting all MSC pre/post-program documents in a timely manner
• Plan theme and topics
• Secure guest speakers and/or student presentations
• Arrange for meal/snacks (if applicable)
• Make QR code or link available for every event evaluation
• Set up/Clean up
• Implement interpersonal communication, fiscal responsibility, risk management, project management, delegation and critical thinking into all aspect of planning and facilitation process
3. Mentor subcommittee members/Delegate tasks effectively to subcommittee. Recruit successor from subcommittee.
4. Work with Vice Chair of Development and Public Relations and MSC Marketing to develop/implement marketing materials (as needed).
MLK Holiday/Special Projects Director
1. Host the university-wide, King federal holiday celebration and special projects (as assigned). Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for submitting all MSC pre/post-program documents in a timely manner
• Plan theme and topics
• Secure guest speakers and/or student presentations
• Secure campus partners (fundraising)
• Write script for entire program
• Work with vendors – venue, catering, car services, airlines, florists, lodging, etc.
• Arrange for meal/snacks (if applicable)
• Works with Student Life Studies on event assessment
• Make QR code or link available for every event evaluation
• Set up/Clean up
• Implement interpersonal communication, fiscal responsibility, risk management, project management, delegation and critical thinking into all aspect of planning and facilitation process
2. Mentor subcommittee members/Delegate tasks effectively to subcommittee. Recruit successor from subcommittee.
3. Facilitate participation in The Big Event bi-annually (odd number years).
4. Work with Vice Chair of Development and Public Relations, MSC Marketing and MSC Development for all marketing and fundraising efforts (as needed).
The Village Director
1. Host Soulful Sundays; these monthly dinners provide pertinent topics. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for submitting all MSC and university-required pre/post-program documents in a timely manner
• Plan all logistics of programming
• Secure table hosts and student participation
• Make QR code or link available for every event evaluations
• Set up/Clean up
• Make all purchases associated with programming
• Implement interpersonal communication, fiscal responsibility, risk management, project management, delegation and critical thinking into all aspect of planning and facilitation process
2. Mentor subcommittee members/Delegate tasks effectively to subcommittee. Recruit successor from subcommittee.
3. Work with Vice Chair of Development & Public Relations and MSC Marketing on marketing efforts (as needed).
Ujima Director
1. Facilitate two co-programming events each year - fall and spring semester. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for submitting all MSC pre/post-program documents in a timely manner
• Plan theme and topics
• Secure guest speakers and/or student presentations
• Arrange for meal/snacks (if applicable)
• Make QR code or link available for every event evaluation
• Set up/Clean up
• Implement interpersonal communication, fiscal responsibility, risk management, project management, delegation and critical thinking into all aspect of planning and facilitation process

- Attend weekly executive leadership and leadership team meetings as applicable.
