Students, Former Students, Friends, Faculty, and Staff:
On behalf of the MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee (WBAC) and the Black Student Alliance Council (BSAC) and many other Black student organizations here at Texas A&M University, we would like to welcome you back to the Second Annual Black Aggie Reunion Weekend; September 18-20, 2009. Reunion Weekend is aimed at bringing former students and current students together to meet, interact, share their experiences, and build productive relationships for the future.
This dynamic weekend will kick off Friday September 18 but is anchored by our Second Annual State of the Black Union Symposium. Presented jointly, this intimate, solutions based dialogue addressing issues that are impacting our Black Aggie community is the perfect start. Through this program, we hope to achieve the following:
-
An open dialogue about where the Black Community currently stands in relation to accountability and investment and how it can best grow and develop, informing Former students, current students, and community members
-
Set a charge for the Black Community of Texas A&M all attendees can endorse and identify with as a mantra for the year.
-
Discover issues impacting the Black Aggie Community in the areas of academic responsibility, student attitudes concerning involvement, how student involvement connects the community, and paths Black Aggies take after graduating.
-
Continue to build and invest in a network both current and former students can access.
Reunion Weekend is rooted in revitalizing, repairing, and connecting the Black Aggie community. There will likely be a number of other engaging events, hosted by different organizations, including a tailgate party, but the foundation will be set with the symposium. So we really want to encourage everyone to attend on Saturday.
So MARK YOUR CALENDARS and make any necessary arrangements to join us for this marvelous weekend and the hopeful beginning of a new tradition. Much more information is coming very soon, including a day-by-day itinerary of events. If you have any questions, please contact us at the information below.
We hope to see you there!
