Black Student Development Endowment
The Black Student Development Endowment is established in an effort to support Black student organizations as well as programs and initiatives targeting Black students currently enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station. Distributions from this endowment will not only enhance programming and developmental efforts for Black students, but that will also make key student organizations significantly more financially independent for years to come.
Each of our student organizations receives funding in a variety of different ways, but each of them is largely funded through Student Service Fees and outside funding sources. Unfortunately, rising costs and competing needs in education means a shrinking pool of Student Service Fees and outside funding sources are not as reliable as they once were. The goal of this endowment is not to completely fund any one organization, eliminating the university’s obligation or the students’ responsibility to fundraise, but rather to supplement a growing financial need that neither the institution nor the students can meet.
Administration
A committee of staff and students of Texas A&M University, appointed by the Directors of the Department of Multicultural Services and the Memorial Student Center, shall select all recipients. Applicants will submit an application for their organization or program, outlining the reason for the request, how the funds will be used, and how the use of those funds will be assessed. All donors will receive a copy of each approved request at the conclusion of the academic year. Any specific assessment background information will be provided as well.
Recognition
In appreciation of your gift, you will be recognized by both the Department of Multicultural Services and the Memorial Student Center.
